Dr D
I had a scout about yesterday morning. Found one field with a lot of birds heading to it but the owner didn't want any shooting because of horses in the field next door. So, that was that. Next field i came across had two guys already set up. I sat and watched for a while and it was very slow. I headed home and had bit of lunch, cut the garden hedge and about 3.30 headed back out to check a stubble close to a roosting wood in the hope of catching a few birds either heading in for the evening or trying to get the last feed. When I arrived there was about a two dozen birds on the ground. I pushed them off and set up with four dead birds on spikes and one on a flapper. This field is difficult to shoot. There is a house at one end and a road running alongside. The home owner doesn't mind shooting but safety dictates that only birds that are in pattern or to the right are targets. I started at about 4 pm and called it a day at 5.30ish. The birds were steady. Nothing spectacular but they decoyed well. I probably could have got half again if the shooting wasn't constrained. Still. 33 picked was a good hour or so's sport. Edited September 13, 2015 by Dr D
