The estate has in the past won the Bledisloe medal for landowners and a number of forestry prizes. The shoot is a mixture of partridges and pheasants. The earlier days in October being mainly partridges and the later days mainly pheasants. The partridges are shown from strategically positioned cover crops (mainly maize), which make the best use of the topography of the land. The contours are ideal for partridge shooting with gently undulating hills and hollows. Pheasants are shown from cover crops (usually driven back to the woods) and from the woods. Lunch can either be in the middle of the day or guests can shoot through if they prefer.Bags are from 150 upwards, depending on guests preference and experience up to a maximum of 350 birds in the day.The Head keeper, Nicky Smith has worked on the estate for many years and worked very closely with the late keeper Stewart White, who was a well known local character. There are many beautiful views over the surrounding countryside around Elton.References are available and many of our guests have been coming back for many years. The location is excellent being only three miles from the A1 and 20 minutes from Peterborough station which is 50 minutes from Kings Cross, London. JDog
Yes a price would be good and some mention of the September day not being quite so mixed.
Coney Basher
If you go to the Elton Estate page on Guns on Pegs, I think you will find that the cost is £708 per gun - for a 200 bird day with 10 guns (and £35.40 per bird overage).
