Mr.C
I've read here an excellent article about re-stocking that mentions rubbing wood dust in with the oil to fill the grain. I've just stripped the varnish off my stock and fore grip and oiled both. My question is should I be oiling with wood dust or is this just for new wood? rwade545
If you want to fill the woods grain then sanding with some oil forms a slurry that the grain for a smooth finish- be careful it also fills checkering etc.
Mr.C
Cheers the stock is pretty glassy but I can see how that would have helped the fore.

figgy
I use a grain filler and sealer then start with the oil.
