snarepeg
Have just had this presented by the son in law. It's a single 10 guage. Probably 2 7/8 chambered and black powder proofed. Jones under lever patent, nice walnut stock forend silver tipped. Bore is slightly pitted, but it's stamped on the action 1861 ? The gun is numbered 742, Large side hammer with half cock and full cock. Barrel about 32 inches( not measured it yet) A nice handling gun and will give it a go before it goes up for sale. Any one with any idea of a price guide.

The price depends on the gun condition; especially if it is only black powder proof; such has wall;thickness, tight action,; how bad is the pitting if this is evident it will not pass a reproof for nitro, , action has no cracks ,plus the makers name Good luck Feltwad Edited January 13, 2016 by Feltwad
snarepeg
Thanks for that, but have decided to keep it for what it would fetch, Going to have a go at adapter sleeves for 12/20? The breech is built like a Cooey in 410, it's meaty, barrel isn't deeply pitted and its 34 inches long. Shooting tomorrow so will give it an airing, have some black powder loaded and along with 2 more of the guns who will be shooting black powder hammer guns in 12 guage should be interesting. Do not use a 12 /20 adaptor in a 10 bore chamber. Feltwad

Feltwad
A 12/20 adaptor is for use in a 12 bore chamber it is to small for a 10 bore chamber and may slide into the barrel Feltwad
Lord Geordie
There is a black powder replacement powder I believe that is a little kinder to the bores! If the pitting is slight! A chamber brush on a shaft in a cordless drill may clean it up no end! Would love something like this to fall,on my lap! Hope it brings a huge smile to your face!
