Gun Watch
AYA No.4 Boxlock ejector £245 12 gauge Shotgun Trade Seller Used - Very Good Condition Harpenden, Hertfordshire Side by Side, 1/2 Choke, Full Choke, 26" barrels Description AYA produced many thousand boxlock non ejectors during the 1960’s 70’s and 80’s and it was on these study workhorses that their reputation of reliability and durability was based. Most of the shotguns were 12 bore field guns with standard stocks and game chokes on 28†barrels, the model evolved by the late 1960’s into the Yeoman. They also produced the No. 3 and No.4, still styled for the British market based on Classic Holland and Holland designs with an Anson and Deeley type action but made to a higher standard and leaving more room for a wider range of stock and barrel length, wildfowling specification and bore choices. The No. 3 was the non ejector and the No.4 their best quality boxlock ejector. They still make them today and is their only boxlock. Prices start at £5800. Mine usually cost from £245…………………do the maths. This model from 1979 has a 14.5 inch LOP, with 26†barrels choked for game at ½ and full under a file rib. I have however about a dozen examples of the same model with different barrels, stocks and chokes to ensure a perfect fit or make a composed pair to suit individual shooting requirements. Seems a fine choke combo for some shoots, some would say too tight for rough shooting and prefer them a bit more open though.
sishyplops
Both of my Aya no4's are 1/2&full pretty standard chokes to come out of Spain
fallowbuck
Yes but game choking in this country is more like Cyl and 1/4 or 1/4 and 1/2.Spanish shooting is more walked up than driven shooting.Your average Basque doesn't attend Battue type days! TIGHTCHOKE
They are Spanish guns and are choked as the seller states, why not ring him on the number he has on Gun Watch and discuss it with him!
fallowbuck
Why?Its just an observation.Whom ever is happy with the chokings will buy it or could easily have them opened at reasonable cost. The seller advertisers here regularily so I should imagine he reads his own advert responses.
