Danger-Mouse
Did anyone watch this fight? Quite a bit of controversy, especially over the 3rd round incident where Silva believed he`d won it. Nice handling by Herb Dean to get things back under control. I`ve criticised Herb in the past but he handled that situation very well. I saw an interview with Dana after the fight and he seemed to think the decision had gone the wrong way. That wasn`t my opinion though. For me Silva did too much showing off and dodging punches without actually throwing much back. Yes on a couple of occasions he landed heavy blows but imo a single shot shouldn`t negate the work Bisping was doing throughout the entire round. I think if Silva had piled on the pressure early in the 4th he could have taken it but he continued to look for the single shot highlight reel knockout and it eluded him and cost him the fight. So congratulations to Bisping. He`s a quality fighter who always brings it and who has only ever lost to exceptional fighters. I wonder if this will get him his title shot? vole
Bisping landed heavy shots especially when Silva let him do so . Diana White is a stirrer talking rubbish for the anti English yanks .Wish Mike had knocked him out cold . Fair play he carried on with a broken nose .Bisping is not the best mma fighter ever but he deserves to be given the chances .
Danger-Mouse
Bisping landed heavy shots especially when Silva let him do so . Fair play he carried on with a broken nose .Bisping is not the best mma fighter ever but he deserves to be given the chances . I certainly wasn`t saying Mike didn`t land a few heavy blows of his own, only that Silva landed a couple of very telling shots, the knee and the front kick especially. I think it`s fair to say those two blows were some of the most significant strikes in the bout. Dana is actually a big fan of Bisping (he said so post fight) because he knows Mike always turns up ready to fight and gives it his all in the Octogon. Maybe after watching the fight again Dana will change his mind, but even if not he`s entitled to his opinion. I think it`s fair to say that Mike is one of the pioneers of UK MMA. He took up the sport before it became popular over here and as a non-American fighter he had the disadvantage of little exposure to wrestling. Nonetheless he`s done pretty well for himself. He has the most UFC wins at middleweight and 3rd most wins in the UFC overall. I hope he gets his title shot. He may not win it but he deserves a crack at the title. Rich_H
I think it`s fair to say that Mike is one of the pioneers of UK MMA. One of the first to get a name for himself outside of the sport due to the continued growth of the UFC yes, but there have been many before him. A more likely candidate for listing as one of the UK MMA pioneers details linked below: http://www.sherdog.com/fighter/Leigh-Remedios-3071
timps
I was at the Quigg Frampton fight on Saturday so didn't get to see the Bisping fight until Monday. Consequently I watched the fight knowing the outcome and the alleged controversy. I agreed with the judges, I had Bisping 1 , 2 & 4 Silver 3 & 5. I watched round 4 critically and give it Bisping, you cannot win a fight by flapping your arms around like Steven Seagal looking for the knockout blow. If it doesn't come you are going to lose the round 10 -9 to the person throwing jabs even though you are not getting hurt. Credit to Bisping for getting off the floor for the win, he nearly lost it though complaining about his gum shield. I thought it was a bit of a cheap shot of Silva though even though it was legal, maybe Bisping should have hit Silva after he turned away for the eye poke as Herb hadn't stopped the fight for that either. SuperGoose75
Watched this on Monday night and it was the first time I seen Bisping Fighting.I knew him from the UFC talk show. Have to say, He is one Tough Dude. Agree with timps in the sense I also thought it was a Cheap shot from Silva too..But what a shot it was..!! Reminded me of Mayweather hitting Ortiz a Cheap shot..I guess its a case of protect yourelf at all times and although somethings legal, Sometimes its just not right..! Credit to Bisping for fighting on after that but I think he himself was a bit surprised he got the decision..A tough one to call but I think they got it right.
