Gully
Is this the registered 100 sporting? I might pop along for this. Telephone entries only I think.
Catamong
It's squadded so don't expect to dash round. Also be prepared for some daft targets, it's not a ground to build confidence at. Cat.
Gully
Thanks Cat, I don't have any confidence left after last weekend's shooting. Maybe I'll just book a lesson somewhere. Have you ever shot Weston Wood? There's a reg shoot on Sunday. Philpot, where are you based?
Catamong
Why not shoot a bit of skeet at Cupid Green on Thursday evenings? I think they're also open Saturday afternoons. It's great practice for Sporting, and a real confidence builder. Here's the link: http://www.cpsa.co.uk/clubs/cditem.cfm?NID=59234 It's fibre wad only. I used to shoot there years ago, but I don't shoot much practice now, and I like spending Summer evenings at Berko Golf Club. Weston Wood, yes, I have shot it, it's not bad, as the name implies it's set in a wood, should be more testing now that the leaves are out, but liable to be pretty busy this Sunday, so get there early and you should get round OK. Cheers, Cat.
Gully
Why not shoot a bit of skeet at Cupid Green on Thursday evenings? I think they're also open Saturday afternoons. I'm sure I read somewhere ages ago that it was Wednesday afternoons. If its evenings great I'll give them a call. Couldn't me more local really. Thanks for the tips. All sorted, They're there till 8pm tonight so I will pop down if I can get out of work on time. So, as I only have cyl, skeet & 1/4 chokes, what do you think, cyl & skeet or skeet & 1/4? Thanks Cat. Sorry to hijack your thread Philpot
Catamong
My preference would be Cyl / Skeet, there's only one bird that you could argue that 1/4 is more suitable, and that is the second bird on the station 4 doubles. If I was you I'd consider investing in extra Skeet & 1/4 chokes so you can shoot Skeet / Skeet or 1/4 / 1/4. A good idea for Birthday / Christmas presents from the Mrs..?? Let us know how you get on, and how much they now charge for a round and a box of shells? Cat.
PhilPot
Im in Waltham Abbey, and yeah its registered iv shot it a couple of times before, normally takes about an hour and a half to go round and yep its telephone entries only, think it starts at 10 last entries at 3:30 i think
Gully
Cat, £3.50/round and £3.50 per box of carts. I didn't ask if you have to use their carts. Also mentioned a £5 registration fee, not sure if this is a one off. Someone's kangoing a wall down next door to my office so the call wasn't the clearest I've ever made. Anyway, I'll pop in there tonight and have a chat. Seems they shoot all day Thursday till 8pm and 12.30-4.30 on Saturdays. Philpot, I'll have a word with the boss and see what plans are for this weekend. If I shoot it I'll be looking to start at 10.

Catamong
Gully, Do you know if they just do skeet on Thursday evenings or do they do sporting as well? Stuart, When I used to go there, it was only Skeet and ABT. There is a Sporting layout in the next field but I think they only use that on Saturdays. No doubt Gully will find out? Cat. Gully
im always looking for people to go shooting with so if any saturdays or possibly sundays your after someone to shoot with let me know PhilPot, there are always people on here looking for a shoot (many in your area) but some are rightly suspicious about chucking their gun in the car and meeting up with a total stranger. First time I ever shot with anyone off this site was Pin who kindly lent me his gun at a local shoot of his. When I thought about meeting up with a load of heavily armed strangers in a bit of woodland off the M25, that scene from 'Deliverance' kept popping into my head. Luckily I wasn't Pin's type B) Post up a bit about yourself and I'm sure you'll have some more takers.

Gully
I didn't get out of work till late so arrived at Cupid Green just as they were finishing. Hadn't been home so no gun. Anyway, witnessed my first skeet shooting. It was set up pretty much as I posted earlier, Cat's right, ABT & Skeet, couldn't see any sign of sporting. Cat, I've got another cylinder, skeet and 1/4 on order, just not arrived yet. Membership is £30/year visitors £5 a session. Doesn't look like you have to buy their carts. Not sure how this compares to other places. £3.50 per round.
pin
£3.50 for a round of skeet is very good value, normally about £5.50 or £6 round these parts..

It's £6.24 per round at Lakenheath, when they fleece you for a bird you didn't get. Cat.
