Dr D
I braved the elements in search of an early season trout yesterday. On with the fast sinking line and I managed to pull out a couple of nice overwintered rainbows. No sign of a brownie though, pity. On the walk my buddy stopped hard. He looked back with a look of disappointment when he realised there was no gun. I took a photo, the bird was sitting very tight. I sent him in and up popped a woodcock. Cranfield
They are nice rainbows for early ones, were you fishing a river, or lake ? That looks like good woodcock country from the photograph and being near to water I would think there are a fair few birds there.
Dr D
A resovoir cranfield. Pretty high up. Its actually a valley with a dam at one end, so yes it does hold quite a few birds probably. The rainbows seem to grow on particularly well, although there are also some cracking browns about. This weekend I will be giving the sea trout a bash in the saltwater or may be pigeons. Haven't decided. I think I am going to post few more of my angling exploits this year.
