I bought a cotton shirt in the factory shop. Looks lovely for the first five minutes then looks like I've slept in it for a week. Made in Vietnam on the label.

Never again even in the factory shop it wasn't a cheap shirt.

Aye....only cheap looking after you wear it....it's a skill.

Liked the BSA Bantam D1 in the factory shop!

Most of the kit labelled Barbour International, is cheaply made fashion items similar to BHS quality, the wax jackets that are Barbour and do not have the international part are ok and last well.

Though Barbour would be my last choice, I would opt for Musto or Le Chameau, or maybe Harkila if my bonus stretched, and I do have a nice Paramo jacket for fishing that I would not put near a thicket

Do you own any of the Barbour international range to have that opinion? Believe you need to read up of what it is and how long it's been going. The fact that it was adopted by the military and was standard issue to submariners and then by riders competing in the international six day trials may be of interest. I agree that some of the products may be a bit of a gimmick and quality probably not too great but the same can be said of some of the manufacturers that you have mentioned in the second part of your post. got a pair of wellies a few years ago that lasted 6 months- wifes lasted about a year until soles wore through- total cr#p,

Ive a few barbour jackets (wax, quilted powell, and lightweight quilted) and have to say they are good. The quilted powell is my primary work jacket in the winter, really warm and 3yrs on has little wear. John Norris have them in their sale at the moment for about £130 and well worth it in my opinion. Wifes barbour jackets are all in tip top nick but she looks after her things better than me. Wouldn't buy any footwear again but clothing good IMO.
