Westley
the amount of "mickey takers " is neglegible, don't believe the hype, its all rubbish to get peoples sympathy whilst they look after their own interests Having seen and worked with them, I strongly disagree with that statement. When I say "I worked with them" that should have read, 'I worked for them' ! I was the one doing the 'working'. There are far more "mickey takers" than you could even begin to imagine. Vince Green
Sorry Vince, looks like I've picked you up wrong, I know where your coming from now... Not a problem, its good for me to explain my grievence because like I said it has bugged me for years. It is truely amazing how far a "bad back and shooting pains in your legs" can take you if you are prepared to just keep going back for more. Thats what he does, he pesters doctors and social workers till he wears them down. Thats what the really needy won't do, they have too much dignity and there lies the real story and the point that the OP was making I believe. Westley
I would think in fact 85% of reported fraudulent claims manage to con the system again. Some of these claimants are far smarter than the folk checking them out. I know of one middle aged Female who worked for DWP. She woke up one morning and realised that she was sitting on the wrong side of the desk ! She left work with 'stress' and has never worked since, getting every benefit that you have ever heard of and some you probably have not. Gamekeeper turned Poacher ? She also claims attendance allowance for one of her Parents, along with the compulsary Motability and of course the famed 'Blue Badge'. rodp
Perhaps the government should look elsewhere in order to reduce false claims, maybe the staff they employ ? A bloke I know quite well had an accident, he tripped and damaged his wrist quite badly some time ago. This left him unable to work as he's a manual worker and perhaps not the sharpest tool in the box. A worker with one hand is limited anyway in most jobs. He desperately wants to work again but was told he would need an operation more than likely, the only other option was to try and gently exercise his wrist back in to action (it could be possible they reckoned) . He got some use back into it but needed to use it in an everyday situation. Anyway, he asked me if he could come in to the works and try to work, use it until it became uncomfortable then rest it for a while before using it again. I agreed to this as he wasn't going to be paid, it was just to help him out. He came in for a few weeks and did what he could, however, one Monday he rang me to say he wouldn't be in as he was being followed. Obviously the state thought he was working After a couple of days he came in and told us the story. A green car was outside his house and followed him when he drove off, so he pulled in, and so did the green car. He pulled away and the car followed, so he stopped at a shop bought a paper and went home, along with the green car. When he came to us the green car followed and parked in full view down the drive, watching, so he made a coffee and walked outside with it in plain view. This went on for a week or more before the other car stopped following him. This was a few months back, when the weather was bitter, and all we can think is the idle *** who was supposed to be watching my mate just couldn't be bothered to get out in the cold. When you have lazy boneheads like the one following my mate doing the job you have no chance of catching the fiddling ****, hardly MI5 is it ? Oh, and my mate had the op in the end, and is back with us gently working it until he's fit enough to find full time employment No green car now though, perhaps he's been called up for James Bond duties
