rbrowning2
Some interesting comments, however it is very difficult using a budget chronograph to duplicate the velocity that the manufacture will get using commercial cip approved ballistic equipment. They normalise the cartridges to a given temperature fire them through the minimum bore diameter allowed for the bore etc. You could argue that the home velocity is real world. ChrisPCarter
Chris, What do you mean as it's not really clear? "Way under speed" for your needs or as compared with their specification? Should it be the latter, Rimfire's figure reflects that they're just 2m/s ish short of their 300. Well what I was getting at is the fact that the 2" and 2.5" Eleys are not sold as subsonic but they are slower than the ones they sell as such. I have seen quoted factory speeds for these being supersonic but everyone says they are the quietest shells in their guns. You would think think they would just admit the real life speed and advertise them as subsonic?

motty
I don't believe the 2" and 2 1/2" are slower than the subsonics. Well there's no supersonic crack and there's less of a bang as its a smaller cartridge. So they must be slower whatever the reading shows?
