Anschutz .22 Hornet

Hi, I have just finished working up a load and yes its pretty accurate. The rifle is around 25 yrs old as far as I can tell, my first loads with 40gr were absolutely rubbish and was wondering if I had bought a bad one but tried some 45 sierra's and hey presto that's what it likes. Grouping around 1/2 to 3/4 inch is fine for me, could possibly tighten it up but bullet length is restricted due to the magazine, any none hornet bullets eg tipped bullets would be out of the question. Any new ( to me ) rifle will come with its habits, this particular rifle likes to shoot dirty. I think generally the Anschutz barrel will be superior to the CZ, the one thing I don't like is the bolt which is a centrefire version of the rimfire bolt which makes it impossible to use my bore guide on it. The metal and wood work is top notch apart from that.

Cz make the best .22hornets something to do with the chamber and bore being machined in one process if I remember correctly, also the magazines can be fettled to accommodate longer heads. Barrel wise cz' are excellent mine had been abused by the previous owner and was pitted to hell but still shot 1/2" with homeloads, it's just a case of finding the right load/bullet combo like any rifle.

I would think it's only aesthetics that the anschutzs would win on. I wish I'd kept my Cz.

Anybody got an anschutz in .22 hornet? If so, I'm interested in what the accuracy is like. How do they compare to Brno/CZ 527 for example. Any info appreciated, thanks.

Never tried an Anschutz Hornet but have CZ.

For field use, I struggle to believe you will find any difference in accuracy make to make.

Obviously individual guns of either make can have issues!

:good:
