WinchesterDave
Bit different to my usual picture posts. Having not been to my permission for a while, and not shot live quarry since the end of the season and needing a mental break from uni work - I gave the farmer a ring to see if it was okay that I come down and have a shoot. He said that is fine but asked me to clear out some ferals from the barns around tea time. So I headed out around half 12 and went to the small wood where about 50 or so pigeon lifted up so I thought I'd be in for good shoot. 5 hours later, not one:/ they didn't come back at all! I fired three shots at high birds which were on the wind and really fast but that was it. I headed back up to the yard at around half 5 and on my way a high pigeon came over me so I thought I'll have a go and got it I was made up I think it was the highest pigeon I've ever shot at if I'm honest but ended up being unretrievable unfortunatly Anyway when I got to the yard the farmer as there sorting the tractor out and I was speaking to him about the ferals, there was four in the barn and only having a 12 bore he said he will go in and push them out. The first came out, Bang, dropped it quick reload, second came out, Bang! Dropped it aswell! Then there was the final two came out in a pair and I got a nice left and right! Farmer came out more happy and buzzing than I was at this point! I was then by my self just having a gander around the yard when I saw some rabbits! First time I've seen them there. Went to have a nosey and they disappeared so left and thought I'll come back in about 20 minutes. 20 minutes later I went back and as I was walking down the track - the other side of where I initially saw the rabbits- one bolted infront of me from The left to the right around 30 yards took me completely by surprise! I got my dog to sit, and lifted my gun, 5 seconds later another rabbit came exactly the same and, bang! Shot it, was made up a nice left to right bolting bunny in the bag:) Having not shot properly in a good few months now it was a nice start back Atb, Dave Edited April 11, 2016 by WinchesterDave

oldypigeonpopper
hello, if your going to get some more ferels or blackies around the farm maybe a need for a good air rifle instead of a 12 guage. ??
WinchesterDave
hello, if your going to get some more ferels or blackies around the farm maybe a need for a good air rifle instead of a 12 guage. ?? Yes, I know I told him on the phone I only have the shotgun but if I didn't have help I'd have waited for them coming in really. Maybe a good excuse for a good air rifle though for the future? We shall see.
