bornfree
I was sitting up my tower last night waiting for a fox which had killed some geese the night before. I spotted one behind the wire fence which was very nervous and would not jump over so I could not get a shot.after 30 minutes along comes a badger it goes straight under the fence grabs a dead goose which I had left out and takes it back under the fence the fox jumps up chases the badger and a tug of war takes place with the goose. Don't know who won as they disappeared into the hedge. I wish I could have recorded it through my nightvision it would have made a brilliant video. bluesj
May not have been the fox that killed the geese
bornfree
Maybe not that fox but definitely a fox. Foxes always bite the neck or head taking one or two completely off and leaving the rest dead or paralysed. Badgers normally take one or two out of the pen and completely strip them. Scully
We stake our dead carcasses down securely to prevent predators literally taking the bait. If the fox had followed the badger under the fence you may have been able to get a shot at it. Not a criticism just an observation.
kent
Anything with its head missing to me is prime reason to suspect a musalid Just the same as a stoat bites the rabbit at the back of the neck the Badger kills it's " goose?" Fox was pushing it's luck there - must have figured it could run faster with the prize than the Badger could without it. Fox v badger is a bit of a no contest toe to toe
