scolopax
Gents, I was wondering if anyone had any contacts for Muntjac stalking they would be willing to pass on? I have a little bit of Roe stalking locally but it would be nice to experience something new. Muntjac have not reached my part of the country yet so gaining my own permission locally is obviously a no go. In fact I have never seen a muntie yet and as such would be more than happy to go out in a non shooting capacity to pick up a few stalking tips and maybe even see an animal or two. I can also offer a days pheasant shooting in exchange on my own shoot. Thanks Richard
dodeer
Richard, can give you the number of a good friend of mine who is a profesional stalker near Salisbury, Wilts. Mostly Fallow but they shoot a few Munties each year. May or may not be of interest to you

scolopax
I worked with a guy a couple of years ago who had 'friends' who translocated the odd CWD. Their technique was to use soft mouthed lurchers. The dogs would catch and hold the animals un harmed until they could be bagged up. I would think the same tactics would wok for munties, except from what I understand muntjac can tear up a dog pretty good.
invector
First check if it is legal to trap and relocate muntjac?
kip270
Nope it isn't You cannot relocate Muntjac/Sika/CWD/Red-Sika hybrid as they are not termed native species

Dunkield
I come face to face with them a lot on my permission and also in my garden. Loads round here. Can be the same round here. I saw this fella last week coming home from rabbiting, so i took my camera with me this week. He had moved but was sat next to this wall (presuamably just taking in the warmth, he didn't look injured) I took this out of the passenger side window, so he was no more than 10 feet away. tulkyuk
I'd of stuck the musket out window instead of the camera
Dunkield
I'd of stuck the musket out window instead of the camera I would have done if he was a bit nearer
kip270
...UNLESS...you have a licence from DEFRA Nope it's English Nature you get the license from, and only with a 2km radius from where it was found
