Harry Callahan
I was out shooting last night, not many at home so took a drive to another farm I have permission on - which has not been lamped on in 5+ years. Home is lamped regularly, rabbits just sit tight and I pick them off.. On the 'new' ground, flash over the field with truck lamp to spot rabbits. They sit fine, but as soon as I put the red LED on them they bolt! Anyone else experienced this with what should be naïve rabbits? Iv never seen rabbits so flighty with the red LED. The truck lamp is handheld, so no use when I'm alone. I use it for spotting, then have a gun mounted torch to shoot with. Its a Ludicrous Lumens T20 single mode red LED. Dave-G
I'd guess someone else has been there with a red lamp. Have you tried Night Vision?
Les*1066
If they are sitting for a white lamp, then just try changing your torch for a white light instead of red.
Harry Callahan
NV is next on the list once I get the .22 If I'm down again I will use a white light, but I was just very surprised at their reaction to red. Are the other colour pills worth bothering with? I'm the only person with permission, which iv had 10years. It's owned by a very close family friend. Iv neglected the shooting abit due to personal reasons and a change in circumstances, but I have more time again so am getting back to it... there shouldn't have been anyone else shooting, unless someone has been chancing it Edited June 11, 2016 by Harry Callahan

clakk
Similar problem round here more shooters than land and the chancer,s go for it.The local ARU has even patrolled Melbourne Hall grounds as the poacher,s leave the remains in dog walker areas which upset them .My last perm was plauged by Dog men and on the way to work we,ve been illuminated several times by lamper,s on the main road to the A38
