Walker570
Woke the village up yesterday. We had a huge amount of rubbish to burn and some was from my office and reloading room as well as brashing and thinnings from some felling we had done in the wood. Anyway for a change it was not raining, so armed with a box of matches and a half gallon of red, I set the lot ablaze. About five minutes into the burn it must have reached a cardboard box into which I had thrown some old primers and the odd crumpled case with live primer still in. I think the village thought Camerons prediction of WW3 had started. It all lasted about 10 minutes. Added to this there was also a number of empty spray paint cans and they are spectacular. I add that my burn area is surrounded by corrugated iron sheets to retian all but the sound, although the odd paint can is launched over the top :-) All good fun. Just a caution about hitting cases with a hammer. I did that to see what would happen about 65yrs ago and still have the thankfully small scar about an inch from my eye where the VERY hot sliver of brass hit me. Never have done it again and even now when I remove bullets with an inertia hammer I wince every time I hit the concrete block. Much more fun to chuck them in a fire but I appreciate not all of us are lucky enough to live with space around us. spandit
I was wearing a safety visor. Try burning a load of bamboo - that sounds amazing on a bonfire!
