busa2003
Morning all, I'm after a bit of advise. Our pup is coming on really well with basic sit, recall, chasing balls etc. The big day of going further afield than our back garden is approaching, thus does anyone have exercises to get him used to the lead? Cheers
Penelope
Slip it on for short periods of time with plenty of encouragement before you venture out. Increase the time the lead is on each time over the course of a week (or until the pup treats as normal routine). Richie10
Dog will associate lead with going out/fun and will be happy with it on.

Yes, continue for a week play retrieving in the back garden allowing the dog to run around with the lead on.
busa2003
Let it drag loose and distract him from chewing it by playing etc?
scotslad
Even just slipping it on and off as u play with him. When u eventually start walking him on it just a few steps intially and build it up, plenty of praise and keep it fun (don't go square bashing)
