.22 wmr review

I've notices a few people commenting about the wmr, they want to own one or they have owned one. Well, here's my thoughts on it...

Yesterday after picking it up I got it home and gave it a clean. Took it out and set some close targets up just to get me roughly there before stretching it out. After fettling to get the windage right I took it to 70 ish yards. The groups were honestly unreal, I was gob smacked! The best group was 3 quarters of an inch ish and that had a flier in it, the other 4 shots were touching each other. Less than half but not on top of each other. So bagged a couple of bunnys and went out again tonight. After some more targets to check drops at different ranges I did feel the drop was a bit much in terms of the hmr. 140 yards i was holding 3 mildots where as the hmr would be half. This meant shooting past 140 yards would have to be accurate on the distance front. Now I did take a rabbit at just over 155 and it dropped like a spud. All in all, a cracking little round, hopefully better when I get some different ammo for it. I'm using Remington 40g magnum rimfire, not the fastest round but its all I could get without spending £21 a box. Hopefully the 30g vmax will prove more effective at longer ranges. So, summary. For rabbits and fox to 150 I feel very comfortable with what it can/could do. It carries a LOT of energy for a little .22 and can really make a mess of things even with soft tipped bullets. Id definitely rate this for anyone looking to shoot fox within 150ish yards and not wanting to use centre fire. A group at 150 was a little over an inch however it was raining and had a gusty breeze that I'm certain blew a couple off a bit. 17hmr or the 22wmr? Id take the wmr for fox any day. The hmr is a good long range bunny round however I personally think that's where it stops. Hope you enjoy a bit of a read 👍

I've had a WMR for a few years now, I shoot out to a hundred with ease on rabbits and foxes and a clean kill is the norm, it does drop off after a 100 yds so the 100 is my benchmark for it.

Round wise I'm using for foxes Hornady 30 grn BT and rabbits 25 grn Hornady BT.

Both perform faultlessly, the only downside is a little residual powder occasionally after each shot may occur which is easily dealt with.

Overall quite a quiet round with enough punch to a 100 yds

My weihrauch is very very accurate with both rounds, really under estimated caliber
