Bungle The Bear
Yes I have one - 28" Multi choke straight hand. I waited ages on one with the right wood. Also went against all the advice and got the 28" rather than the 30", but for what I do I find it works a treat. I shot with it all last game season, but I have just recently had it fitted ie. cast off, comb raised, and toe altered. I find it great fun to shoot clays with too. The only downside when I purchased the gun was the standard of finish on the wood, which I thought to be ok, but not befitting the rest of the package. I had the woodwork re -finished at the same time as the fitting - It now looks great and shoots exactly where I am looking, have had a few great days on the pigeons lately, But cant wait till this years pheasants, although I do have a walked up grouse day next month before the pheasants. I shall try and post a few photos on here if I can work it out !!
shinybum
Thanks for your reply,I am looking at a 30inch fixed choke pistol grip beaver tail for end model,I must admit I'm quite taken by it, how often do you change the chokes in yours for game shooting? Bungle The Bear
I shoot all my game seasons with 1/4 and 1/2 - I would have preferred a fixed choke too, but i liked this piece of wood, and as I had waited a while on the right wood I decided to go with the multi choke. I think it handles very nicely and it has managed to keep the rest of my SxSs and O/Us in the cabinet.

shinybum
That certainly is a lovely finished stock,I thought 1/4 and 1/2 chokes would be your choice so I think the fixed choke gun will be fine, just need to spend some money now ! SxS
I use one of these (28", pistol, m/c) as my "everyday" gun and generally get on well with it. Good points: Nicely balanced. 100% reliable since inertia repair. Nicely finished and a real step up from the previous model (albeit Bungle's got me thinking about having the wood refinished!). Steel proofed for 3". Never intend to put steel through, nor do I have any need for 3", but regard it as "future proofed" in case lead does ever go. They seem to hold value well. 10 year warranty option gives peace of mind for £50. Bad points: Inertia problem saw the gun go back within first couple of weeks as it wasn't giving me the second barrel - quick fix and both GMK and Malmo Guns were super helpful and really pulled out the stops when I said I had a day out looming. Since the fix I've had >5,000 rounds through without it missing a beat. Stock is a bit short as standard and the Beretta extensions are only available in polymer. I needed to add around 1 1/2 inch so I have had to add a spacer and swap the wooden butt pad for a polymer one... going to be getting a 'smith to do something a bit tidier when the next season is out of the way. You really need to shop around to get the right wood as there does seem to be quite some variation between individual guns, with some being decidedly plain. I rarely change the chokes but would certainly buy multi-choked in preference to fixed (I shoot tightly choked for practice on clays but want the option to open up for lower/closer game). If you swap to Teagues then you lose the notches and they're hard to spot... Would I buy another? Definitely.
shinybum
Hi,I have purchased a 486 from West Midlands shooting ground, I have gone for a fixed choke model as I rarely change anyway, yes it is a lovely gun and I am well pleased, shot 66 pigeons at the weekend on its first outing I have tried to put up some pictures but files are to big. Looking forward to a long relationship with this gun
