Thinking of a variation I want to sell my current .22 rifle and purchase another renewal coming up soon so will do it then do I need to get rid of my current rifle first before I'm granted another

Unless you want to keep you current one then just apply for another slot at renewal. Although as normal if you want a second you need to give good reason, for quarry shooting a dedicated NV setup usually ticks the box

On the form state you're getting rid of your current on and then asking for a new one. Should be a straight forward change. But you have to have sold your current one before you get your licence back with the empty slot. This should make ot a free variation as its one 4 one
