mick miller
That would work, maybe they should offer this as a factory fit, it would be worth paying a little extra for it to don't you think? My point being, if I'm paying upwards of £150 for a torch, I don't really expect to have to bodge it with tape to get it to work. Maybe I'm just too fussy? al4x
Maybe but must say never need to adjust the focus on mine and usually just use the one power setting so possibly don't find the flaws. As I say I've had years worth of use 2-3 times a week and it's been faultless.
wildfowler.250
Ah this has made it slightly more complicated. Basically I expected to pay a bit extra for the NM and it to be significantly better. So verdict would be a TR50,(means nothing to me apart from a very quick goodle) in Red plus something to scope mount it to? Very worried about the whole buy cheap buy twice but theres also about £100 difference.
mick miller
There's nothing to worry about with the TR50 torches, in terms of quality there is little between them. The leds are the same, I'd say the lens options on the TR torches is an improvement. If running a red led make sure you buy the tail switch, you can stick it to the stock with adhesive velcro. For mounts, ideally you want one with windage and elevation plus a rail, I may have one here but I'd want cost price for it as I have no reason to sell it and it's unused. martyn2233
The obvious differences are the battery tube - regular size on the TR and the heads or lenses - interchangeable easily on the TR and without the heavy knurled ring and the holes that create spill around the lens. The comments on the Nightmaster batteries, well, they're li-ion. Buy a Panasonic and they last just as long for half the price. They are supposed to last a long time though. The Nightmasters are just a regular Chinese made torch with an almighty mark up. thanks think I'll order one when funds allow me too
mick miller
I have a new Nightmaster windage elevation mount and separate 25mm\30mm weaver rail here, £50.49 posted. So that will cover most scope types and allow the adjustment you need, the rail remains in the rifle/scope, the mount stays on the torch, you just clip the torch on when you need it. Sorry I can't do a better price but if in the future I find I need another, then I'll have to buy one from taclight just like everyone else! jimmyb79
Have a look at th Tracer F900 too. I have a NM800 with x-searcher, the F900 knocks spots off it in all regards. The pill is dead easy to change and the kit comes with mount etc
mick miller
With the above don't buy the multi colour led, just single colour as you require. The multi led pill won't focus sharply as each coloured section is slightly off centre. The zoom is good on these but not sure how fiddly it would be at night in the dark when mounted on your rifle? Perhaps Jimmy can let us know. I tried an early release of this torch, it had the multi led and that put me off. I think the one I had had white, green, red and blue - I mentioned that blue and green are seldom used in shooting. The mount was good, a plastic gimbal type affair that gave a rotational type adjustment. It was plastic though and, over time, we know what happens to plastic. It is also the same cost to replace as the entire, metal, set up that everyone else uses (£50 plus).
