Brixsmaid
Does anybody use them and how do they compare with bones? And as I don't know any stalkers, if they are any good, what is the best and most economic source?? Thanks
al4x
Unlike bones they last for ages, my two still have some of a fallow antler about from 2 years ago. They like chewing it but it doesn't seem to splinter and just lasts and lasts

paul1966
i got a couple off here. my lab seems to prefer it to her filled bone and is always chewing on it, i have read that they are so hard that if a dog is a hard chewer they can crack teeth, so to start with i was not sure to let her have them or not, but she does not seem to bite hard and seems to just nibble the ends getting the marrow (if that what it is) out. loriusgarrulus
Are they any good at keeping teeth clean and plaque free. They occasionally have them at Lea Oakes pet supplies near us for sale. I have wondered whether to get some for ours. I believe so but can't confirm, bit worried about Paul1966's tooth damage report above, my eldest springer crunches up bones like they are marshmallows! I'm also less than impressed with the commercial market's prices!!

loriusgarrulus
Went to Lea Oakes today for a sack of food. They still had pieces of antlers for sale at around £13-14 a piece. Will stay with beef leg bones from the butchers at £1.50 for 3 large chunks.

loriusgarrulus
They did have some buffalo horns for dog chews too. Nylabone are making plastic horn and antler shaped chews I noticed there as well.
loriusgarrulus
We did see a deer on the track by our woodland on Sunday. Maybe have our own source in a while. I think it was a muntjac.
handlebar
My Lab Springer cross loves his antler chew, like said before they last and last and don't splinter like a bone, his teeth are pearly white and for a dog his breath ain't bad lol
Brixsmaid
Still thinks i'll be sticking with standard butchers bones, unless a source of cheap Antlers happens by! Thanks to all for your replies
