decroyffe
After a long time waiting i've finaly been handed down my Uncle Georges medal and cert. It's been stuffed in the drawers for the last 4 years which didn't please me, George always had it displayed, but when he passed away it was given to my grandad who never displayed it. Uncle George was awarded this for is courage and bravery. He saved 12 horses and a number of beasts from death when he entered a burning barn, on the farm where he work. The horses had to be dragged out in twos which must have taken time, and with all the panic a bit hair raising. From what the local papers reported, he also chased the arsonist onto the moors and dragged them back aswell, which resulted in there arrest. The medal was awarded on the 14th april 1934 by the RSPCA, now i'm going to reframe the cert and medal, and display it like he did all those years The Farm was in Oxspring near penistone for those local
LEFTY478
Nice. I have a my grandfather's framed commendation from The Royal Humane Society, awarded after he climbed down a cliff face to rescue a trapped boy. Sadly, I never met him as he was killed in a train accident the year before I was born.
