Scully
Mate turned up to rough shoot today with a Beretta SO2, a case hardened sidelock with stunning wood in its own fitted motorcase. I'm not a Beretta fan but this was a beauty. He's had it fitted with thin wall Teagues. He just brought it to show us before getting out his usual rough shoot 16 bore live pigeon gun but will be taking it to our driven days so will get some pic's next week and post. A real stunner. McSpredder
Beautiful pieces of engineering, I always wanted one of those. I read a comment several years ago along the lines of "not a suitable gun for gorillas". Nothing to do with primates as a quarry species (reminds me that when I was a child, a favourite book was The Gorilla Hunters by R M Ballantyne). Just meant that the SO series stocks are said to crack rather easily, these guns deserve to be handled carefully, and should definitely not be slammed shut by somebody who is strong and excitable. You may well be right; he once criticised my choice of a high grade Italian gun, stating the very same...that the nicer the wood, the higher the risk of cracking. Unfortunately he was proved correct.
