It's the closed season in England until the 16th June - not sure about Ireland?

We pike fish the rivers here once or twice a year, and we find September about the best time, I am not into the bivvied up chuck and chance deadbaiting thing either - even though it can produce huge fish.

I have family in Limerick and when I was a young lad I used to go over to help out on the family farm during the summer holdiays from school.

I've fished a few spots, the Shannon at Plassey at the back of the uni in Limerick is a good spot as is O'Briensbridge. Also fished a very nice place called Dromore out to the south west of Limerick near Pallaskenry, there was very good Brown trout on the fly and huge Pike. :stupid:

Good luck.

Mark.

I'm sure you wouldn't do it... but just so you know, It's illegal to kill any coarse fish over 25cm in Ireland.

It is also illegal to use live bait.

Enjoy!!

Heard the other day they are even eating the bream out of a local lake.

they've been accused of killing swans round us to eat. You never know how much to believe it but I'm sure it goes on.

On the other side Pike tastes great. Haven't eaten any for years but definitely surprised me how good it was.
