Lloyd90
Is it legal to own a shotgun with less than the legal barrel length if it is instead on a FAC as opposed to a SGC? EG a coach gun style double barrel. If so I just wondered why those who shoot PSG normally have 26"+ barrels? Is it just for the large magazine capacities? Jaymo
Yes Lloyd90 A single barrel,o/u, SxS or even in one of those three barrel versions can be less than 24" Hence the 20' coach guns that you find on the circuit. But, you can't have a pump or semi shorter as they suddenly become Sec5 subsequently to the legislation change we all suffered. Prior to that I remember things like 12" rotary mag shotgun and the legendary Franchise SPAS with an 18.5" barrel

Jaymo
Your welcome Regs over here in France allow the original length barrels :-) There is even a Benelli pump with a 12" barrel which holds four carts from memory
Breastman
24" barrel is the minimum you can have on a semi or pump FAC shotgun, and it must be 40" in overall length. As stated above double barrel or bolt action shotguns on an FAC only have to meet the 12" barrel, 24" OAL requirements. More interestingly LEVER action shotguns fall into this too. The Alder shotgun has been released over here but the shortest barrel you can buy off the shelf is 24". Supposedly they're bringing out shorter barrels at the end of next year though so I can see one in my future
