eddoakley
Anyone have any basic tracking device set ups? Anything any good? Lots on fleabay but no idea if they are a waste of time and money. Just want to be able to see the location of 5 or 6 vehicles and if possible see where they have been, ie rewind, maybe 24 hours? Possible? On a budget? Hopefully. pegasus bridge
Obd systems are cheap, plug and play jobs - but are easily removed , great because you can swap them over but not so great because drivers can also disconnect easily . eddoakley
Not really worried about being unplugged, if they are then the drivers obviously have something to hide. Would be clear when they were unplugged and plugged back in. Any links? Anyone use the app on smartphones? Is it worth buying a couple of cheap phones and just leaving them in the glove box of each vehicle? Does the app allow you to review the phone's/vehicle's movements or just check where it is in real time? Edd
pegasus bridge
Phones would be a pain with charging, an obd tracking device is powered through the obd port, there's loads on the market including software etc
HDAV
We used to have tomtom webfleet trackers on vans at old work, really good app, know a guy who runs a bus company locally he just had navman trackers in his buses, reckons they are the dogs danglies he was telling me about them at the weekend. On a budget it all about the SIM card and software pays sims aren't great there are specific data sims you buy one yearly or monthly contract that work without top ups, basic frackers send the location when asked better ones constantly update. If you don't need remote access just historical references you can use gps loggers as oppose to live trackers but that doesn't help if you need to know where it is right now etc.
al4x
We use navman at work, ideal but not that cheap. Well worth it
