Walker570
Neat ... I use google earth, more or less the same. That system would be useful for hill walking or similar.
figgy
Fantastic, now what you look at is what you see on the map. Reading contour lines you sometimes think I can still get up there it looks like a pass only to spend time and effort for nought. Now you can look and pick a route based on true images. otherwayup
Fantastic, now what you look at is what you see on the map... Could have done with this about 8 years ago. According to the OS map, this is a public footpath along waters edge of Wast Water. And it goes on for about 2 km like this!!!
figgy
Been there lovely location. My wife and I set out to walk scafell pike a few years ago. Map out looked at it great gate to footpath just outside of the national trust car park over a bridge then up the approach path at the pass turn onto the path up scafell pike. Got to the turn on the pass n no right turn onto scafell path. Aske a few people no one had clue then couple of women walkers stopped knowing what we had done as it happens all the time . Two car parks both with gates in the same location out of them both with s bridge crossing and both with a pass to climb first. What we took for the national trust car park just outside the national trust centre was infact the bloody hotel car park, national trust car park is a field half a mile back along along the road.We had gone up black sails pass and ended up doing pillar instead and lucky we did as this woman explained. There was a three peaks challenge on and scafell was rammed with people. Having a 3D map would have shown the right car park trail the lot.
