beanieboy
I hear folk talk about the stability of the two point gun rest feature of the above, however I note the actual sticks themselves are attached at the bottom giving two only points of contact with the ground....rather like a bipod. Obviously this allows for easy up/down adjustment on the shot, but can they really be as stable as a tripod? I prefer to shoot prone, when possible and use a relatively cheap Deerhunter Tripod when it isn't....the tripod has a single rest only for the rifle and is just ok. I imagine a tripod with a pivoting double point rifle rest fitted would provide a very stable setup, albeit a pain to lug around. I'd be interested to hear from those using the aforementioned Quad Sticks and how stable they find them in the field.
the enigma
I've heard of people attaching a length of rope, which is long enough to reach the ground, to the top of their quad stick. Then when taking the shot you can stand on the end of the rope, effectively turning your quad sticks into a tripod.
Tford
I have the seeland quad sticks after bipod sticks, I've also tried the Jim shockey trigger tripod sticks. Quad sticks are by far the best. On a bipod or tripod you still get lateral and vertical movement from your body moving. On quads you only really get vertical movement from your body moving. They also take a little getting used too to setup quickly. I'm not the best shot but 200yrd foxes are easy off quads, however mine are fixed height so only good for standing shots. Off bipod such shots would be more like pot luck
beanieboy
Thanks chaps, seems Quad Sticks are becoming increasingly popular. Might look into getting some...won't be any more difficult to 'lug' around than my current tripod sticks.
welshwarrior
Used quad stick for a long while now much more stable than the options that I've seen and tried think I've probably tried all the ones on the market now. I zero and do load devolpment off my quads as well and they are that accurate.
Tford
Oh and I've heard those with the two point rests for tripods just end up buying, trying and never really using them in the field. Sound like we've made our mind up for you! 😁
