ferguson_tom
Hi everyone I have just bought an ifor gp106 plant trailer as going to France this weekend to collect our new toy which is half size traction engine. The engine weighs around 900kg and the trailer 700kg ish so less than half the trailers 3500kg capacity. Ifor state 90psi for tyre pressures however as I am going down empty and comimg back only half loaded weight wise is it worth me dropping the pressures down a bit to act as bit of suspension. I have towed ifors before and know when empty they can rattle around a bit. I normally wouldn't bother but it's 1000 mile round trip and the empty ifor rattle will soon get annoying on the way down there. Cheers. tonker
Trailer is going to rattle anyway, go with the right tyre pressure unless Ifor give an empty load pressure. Then you have no worries. I run my cattle trailer at 90psi all the time. Edited May 4, 2017 by tonker
Rupert
Got any ibc's fill em with water, I bet the pressures wont make a difference, tyres will be that stiff and trailer relatively light, i have in the past took all the sides off and strapped em to the deck, this kills a bit of noise. bornfree
And the roads in France are much smoother than ours.
ferguson_tom
Being the plant trailer the sides are all fixed so it's not as bad as my friends flatbed I used to use a fair bit. Thanks for advice gents think I will just put the 90psi in and crack on.
gustaff
i have a bateson tri axle trailer 90 psi in tyres reducing pressure wont make a differance as tyres are ten ply for that pressure so trailer will bounce and nod towing vehicle but will tow like a dream when loaded behind you
