You don't need a variation for a mag extension. Contact Nordic Components or Taccom for advice. It will either be the same as Benelli M1/2 or Xtrema/Nova.

I spoke to Nordic, apparently it's not the same

Practical Shooting Supplies are in your part of the world they will be able to help.

I tried them, you still need the conversion piece from gmk

What's different apart from the tube? Random question >>> does the sg version use a different shorter tube than a FAC one which has had a roll crimp put in it. >>> Edit question/ Rethink. >> Are there different lengths of tube available? Eg 3 shot 5 shot?

If your shotgun has got a magazine that holds more than two cartridges then it can't be held on a SGC and must go on a FAC instead. Sounds like this is the case for the OP.

However if you have got a section 1 shotgun already you can do what you like with the magazine, so you could add an extension tube onto a 5 shot and turn it into a 10 shot if you want without having to tell anyone.

If you are turning your sec 2 into a sec 1 firearm there is nothing that says that this conversion must be carried out by an RFD or gunsmith. Providing that you do the paperwork properly, and inform your FEO you can do it yourself (assuming that you are capable of doing it!). It's going to need to be added onto your FAC, then 'sold' from your SGC and you'll need to inform them about both of these to make sure that there is traceability.

Just remember that converting a sec 1 back to a sec 2 isn't just a case of removing the tube - that will need to go to a RFD (and maybe to a proof house) to confirm that it isn't sec 1 any more and really isn't worth it.

Well, I'm a competent DIY er but what would get me is the paperwork. Not that I can't complete it but I know what the police are like if you over complicate things for them. :)

How would I sell the Sec 2 as it wouldn't have been sold but in effect scrapped and converted?

You 'sell' the gun to yourself to take it off your SGC and then you enter it on to your FAC (providing that you have got the relevant authority to acquire it).

From then on that shotgun becomes section 1 (even though at that point it still meets the section 2 criteria).

Once it's on your FAC you can do what you want with the magazine tube and convert it from a 2+1 to whatever you like.

The gun isn't being scrapped as it's still very active, it's just changing the status. So you inform your FEO that you have sold the sec 2 and acquired a sec 1 with the same serial no. so everything is visible.

If you want to double check then give your FEO a call - I know several people in my club that have done the conversion themselves with no problem but there are some people who are insistent that it goes to a RFD who will charge you transfer fees both ways for effectively doing nothing.
