Paul in North Lincs.
This may sound like a strange question but,,............... - I have an awsome hob that I bred out of last year. The litter have also made even better outstanding workers...... - The original jill I paired with the 'good' hob has gone.....and I was wondering whether pairing the daughter back to the father would create any genetic problems. I breed pigeons and daughter back to father is one of the best pairings there is for strengthening bloodlines. Siblings would cause them fly backward..but I dont know if this is true for ferretts...............any genne boffs or avid ferret breeders amongst us? I have kept ferrets for years but have never had any as good as these. The Hob bought in Ireland, and a game keeper I know saw them working and wanted a couple of dogs when we bred. any ideas
Ferretboy111
Its too much of a risk. Ive seen ferrets that have been interbred, alot of the silvers are interbred and boy do they usually get problems, alot of cases of brain trouble aswell as paralyzeing. Also seen ferrets with extra toes etc from interbreeding. Id get another jill and mate them, unrelated. Alex
Cranfield
I suspect mammals are different from birds in this respect. The match you are suggesting is too close, in my opinion.

Just try walking around Feltwell for a couple of hours and you will be able to answer your own question.
