AVB
The windscreen seal has split so rang up autoglass to see how much to replace only the seal. They said they wouldn't do it and would only replace the windscreen at a cost of £300. Rang local windscreen specialist (I didn't realise there were any until googling) who quoted £70 for rubber and fitting and if it needs a new windscreen it's another £32. He also seemed to know about Defenders. Now I am sure that a the auotoglass quality will be three times better. Not.
ditchman
not a bad price.............my rubber seal needs replacing....got one from JSF...think it was about £27.00.............the pucker landrover ones are expensive as they have the curves(courners) moulded into it.............. landy george
Just don't use a britpart seal or you will have trouble. When I had mine fitted he couldn't get a pucker one in the time so tried fitted a britpart , I did warn him but he wouldn't listen. He came back the next day with a pucker one & did it in half an hour. If it was me I'd fit a heated screen, the best mod you can ever do No more waiting half an hour for the screen to clear
243deer
Last time I needed a windscreen replaced (ironically after a pigeon strike ) Autoglass quote was £360 and local firm £
AVB
Last time I needed a windscreen replaced (ironically after a pigeon strike ) Autoglass quote was £360 and local firm £110 Almost exactly the same for me. Had the new seal fitted yesterday and a new screen as the existing one had a chip in it and for an extra £30 it was a no brainer. The guy who do it knew his stuff and had done lots of Defenders.
