spready
Thinking of fitting a doubler to my N970, just wondered if the original type that where used for the N550 would work? I found one on eBay and also on google for £149, or does the Sony lens still take some beating? http://www.lpg-kits.com/pulsar.htm Would that be ok or that overpriced? Does the n970 benefit from having a doubler fitted? Sorry for all the questions , it seems like ages since I used a n550 with a doubler
oldypigeonpopper
hello, i am sure it would work as like your 550, i see it only pushes into the front lens ? what size is this ? as there could be an alternative cheaper, looking at the spec it states the front lens 50mm? JRDS
Be wary, I have used all the different adaptors and any slight knock loses you zero.
spready
Have you used the pinto adapter? Seriously thinking about that one
soulboy1957
Putting any of the doublers on N series never worked for me, I still use an N750 but with no doubler. Never found any held zero even when bonded in.
JRDS
Yes used the DiPinto it still lost zero even as said when bonded in with Araldite.
soulboy1957
After using doublers for a couple of years I came to the following conclusions: Doublers that are used pulsar or Sony are not optically presice, convex(dome shaped) lenses and liable to lose zero when focusing the sight..I.e. Focusing moves the camera thereby looking through a different part of the lense. Even when bonded you are only bonding to the plastic outer cover, this will move with shock or temperature. By fitting a doubler you undoubtedly improve the sight picture, but you are now asking the camera to operate through the factory lens and the doubler lens, that WILL distort the image. N series are great when used as they left the factory
snarepeg
Had the 550, fitted with Pinto? Adapter and a camera lens type doubler. Clarity was good, never shifted from zero,But this was air rifle and rim fire so no recoil.
bornfree
I've been using a N550 with a doubler for 4 years first on a 243 and now on a 223.And it took me several months to find a glue to bond it so it doesn't move and lose zero. I tried epoxy. silicone. Gorilla glue. None worked for very long. But the black car windscreen adhesive does the job its very strong but also flexible so gives a bit of movement under recoil. I haven't had to re-zero for a good 3 years.
