Dunkield
It looks very compact for a 56mm scope Rob How is it at pulling in the light in? (nice clean fingernails BTW  )
Soulboy
They are excellent glass for the money,i have the 4-12X44 on my CZ and have already bought the 10X44 for my HMR(when i get the variation),SBC reticule is really usefull with aimpoints at 1/4 mildot spacing. So a Zero of 65 yards gives you aimpoints for every ten yards further out.

Eagleman
Same scope as I've just bought to put on my HW60J HMR. I've a little work to do to the gun first as Tulkyuk knows (thanks mate for the info) but I'll keep quiet about that this time. The MTC scopes are really excellent for the money. I also like Falcon Merlin scopes which I reckon just as good but they do not do up to 24mag which I demand for both LR and HMR. The SC8 reticule on the MTC is better than the MP20 on the Falcon as it is less cluttered.
taffygun
I've been considering the sidewheel 10x44 vipir for my hummer.... what are they like at the longer distances fellas.... say 100-200yds.... foggy or clear as a bell..

You would have to go up to S&B, Zeiss etc to get notably clearer. The fixed power 10mag model is clearest of the lot given it has less lenses to weaken the light. Power of 10 mag is far too low for me especially at that sort of range you mention but if it is right for you...go for it!

The reason is I like to see EXACTLY where the cross hairs are on a target and I am half guessing with scopes of about 10 to 12 power. Other people seemingly get on fine with low power scopes. Not me. I just can't be bothered with them. The tripe that is sometimes trotted out is that high power increases your error. Of course it doesn't. You wobble as much on 2 power as you do on 32 power. The field of view is reduced on high power but I can't say that I've found this much of a problem. And I don't take freehand standing shots! deadeye ive
Certainly from my own experience's I'm afraid I have to disagree with you on the use of high magnification ,on a target range anyway for example as I and many others achieve tighter groups using 8/9and even lower magnification .I agree about shot placement on live quarry though and if you feel operating on 24x gives you a higher percentage of humane kills then it can only be a good thing . For some shooters it's the opposite . I've not any problem at all with what you say deadeye. Horses for courses - what suits me won't suit others. I find that high mag suits me better on the range as well as in the field but for others it'll be different. For anyone unsure try both options and see what is best for you. taffygun
I use a Hawke Varmint 6-24x42 on my hummer and out at 150-200yds it tends to get a bit foggy especially when use on 24x mag. I now tend to zoom upto around the 20x mark and its proving to do its job for me, only this morning, using the rifle off a pod I took 2x bunnies out past 100yds 1 @ 151yds(paced) and 1@ 197yds(paced) I have had this rifle only 3 months but I must have put around 200rds through it just target shooting, checking zero and gaining confidence at different ranges.... and put about 75-100rds through it hunting. I do tend to restrict my shooting to sub 120yds but thats not because of the rifle, its because of my ability.
