badgerman
right gents, have the opportunity to buy a beretta al391 silver deluxe for £550. very good nick aside from a few dings in the stock. main problem is the stock is varnished and i usually prefer oil, its not a glossy shine however, but not as nice as oil. so what do we think? worth the money? is varnish ****? any help's appreciated cos i'm the most indecisive person in the world. cheers, BM. Peter_HMR
Can always just strip it and sand down and oil yourself on a rainy day Not to sure about price is sterling but that sounds like a very good buy
Mungler
If it's straight and you get the chokes and case the price seems about right. Great guns. Knock 'em down a few quid and you are in there. Don't worry about engraving or varnish - they "shoot" very nicely.
pin
I bought a "minter" 391 synthetic for £600 and used and abused it for 6 months and sold it for £600 Job done

badgerman
he's only just brought it down from £600, so it's £550 and i've managed to get him to throw in a £30 gun sleeve, already comes with usual chokes, hard case etc. also has a recoil reduction pad fitted on the stock which is nice. i'm just worried about the varnish aswell, not sure if it looks a bit naff. Cranfield
Good varnish on a gun has never bothered me. Its the much older guns where the varnish is very dark and unevenly applied (usually DIY touch up), thats worth avoiding. That is a nice gun and the deal sounds good. Jeezus on a serious note tho, will it? because i have put on some weight recently and i really dont want a gun that adds to it anymore. actually forget the gun, can anyone just hold me?
