Paddy Galore!
Hi gents, just replaced one of the caddy injectors with a second hand one but they should be programmed, only thing is vw don't recommend reprogramming a 2nd hand injector, as it runs ok do you in the know reckon it'll be ok for a short while until I can afford a new one? or should it be replaced right away? I would ordinarily go by the book but they're the thick end of 400 notes each and i'm still getting over Christmas.
Jason_ox
Some of them it’s just a money making gimmick. I replaced an injector on my dads navara, by the book it should of been coded to the ecu however after finding out you can disconnect battery replace injector and reconnect battery the ecu learns the new injector. If it’s running right and running on all 4, programming it isn’t going to do anything and I’d use it.
Paddy Galore!
thanks Jason, I've been driving it about today and it pulls well, doesn't make any untoward noises, but the bloody leak down pipe keeps popping out of the injector body, I've modified an "R" clip to hold it in better and it seems to do the job, just looks a bit of a bodge. I reckon i'm going to have to bite the bullet and buy a new injector and try and find some component parts for the leak down pipes, vw want £85 for the set of 4 link pipes with connectors, that's about £5 worth of rubber pipe and brittle plastic pipe connectors, I reckon this van will bankrupt me 9 hours ago, Jason_ox said: Some of them it’s just a money making gimmick. bluesj
Find a diesel specialist in your area they will be much cheaper than vw, if you still have the old one they can recondition it and you can refit it, no need for programing

Paddy Galore!
thanks bluesj, EDS came up trumps, got some alloy connectors and pipe for under £20, and they doing an offer on injectors, £220 a piece, same injector but about half the price of the vw trade counter. bornfree
I've been using EDS since it was J C Quantrell and then Norwich engine centre and eurodiesel.
