ste eibar
I’ve been looking to put some all terrain tyres on my 06 freelander. The problem is it has 225 /55/17 and the only AT tyres I can find are BFGs at £120 each. So I was thinking of going for a 16in rim but how do you work out the new tyre size. Any help would be appreciated. Also will defender rims have the same stud pattern.
decoy1979
There are lots of online calculators such as this one: Will they fit You should be able to go down to 16", search for AT tyres available and plug the numbers in and see what the difference is. Hope this helps. Edited February 12, 2018 by decoy1979 Spelling correction
itchy trigger
I would be tempted to try the maxxis 225/65/17, won't be that much bigger, go on the freelander websites and see what size they are using and fit, there must be some leeway on sizes
ste eibar
Thanks for the reply’s. Ive been on the will they fit site. The Maxxis 225/65r17 will change my speed reading to read 28.6 when it’s ment to be 30 mph. I’m not to worried about that more if it has any affect on the engine or gearing. old'un
To keep the overall tyre diameter the same you would need to go for new 16 inch rims and a tyre size of 225/60/
itchy trigger
last time I put on slightly bigger all terrains instead of road tyres it corrected the speedo, as it was reading fast, according to the sat nav that is
