Kikkan
Hi there! My pigeon magnet uses a battery with 12V 17Amp.Hr Today at work, i got a slight bigger barrery that looks the same, but ofcorse is bigger in size. On this battery it says : Powerfit S312/24 G5 12V 24Amp.Hr My question is : Can i use this battery on my magnet without destroying it? /cheers
Gully
Yes, the magnet will only draw the current that it needs. You might want to wait for a second opinion though
tulkyuk
yep you can use it - it will last for ages too!!
ph5172
Yes you can still use it the A hr equates to the ammount of amps the battery can power for an hour , ie it will power somthing drawing 12A for 2 hours where as the 17A would run it for 1hr 20. so to put it bluntly it will power your decoys for longer. hope thet is what you were looking for. your magnet should have the power consumption on it or the instructions should so from this you can work out how long it will last Normaly a newer rotary will require between 1.5 and 2A to power it. Peter_HMR
12V As said amp hours refers to how much charge the battery can store
pin
I'll work fine, it's not a deep cycle type so don't run it flat or you'll ruin it.
Kikkan
Thanks a million guys! really appreciate it Any guess on how long the magnet will work on that battery? my guess would be like approx 12 houres (if it runs on 2A) ? dont think i can find out how much my motor uses, because i painted the whole magnet mattgreen (ever over the labels) here is a modell of it : ohh btw, now i got yet another of theese batterys... they where about to trow them away (never used)
pin
How long does your rotary last on the 17Ah battery, we can then make a guess about the new one.

pin
Depending on speed, I'd guess at 12hours+
verminer
yes this battery is fine to use, you will get longer use out of it as well.
Gully
If there's a fuse anywhere have a look at its rating, it will give you a rough idea of what the thing's drawing. My guess is 3-5Amps. Simple calculation - 24 Amp Hrs divided by 3 amps = 8 hours.

pin
Looks a decent charger mate. Tech spec document here Suitable for 11Ah to 60Ah batteries so its perfect for your application. It's a proper 3 state charger which will keep the battery in good nick too.
Highlander
Kikkan...why do you need such a large battery? Are you planing to stay out shooting pigeons all week? The whole pigeon shooting game is getting lighter weight and you buy a power plant that wouldn't be put to shame in a Scammel! or are you practicing for the Olympic weight lifting gold!
