Ricko
Hi, It crossed my mind that whilst I've seen shotguns made from converted Lee Enfield .303 rifles, were any other military rifles converted into shotguns? Cheers
AYA117
Back in the 80s there was lots of them, any rifle bored out to smooth bore became a shotgun! I always wanted an M1 Carbine, but was young and my pocket money did not stretch that far
farmer7
My friend just handed in for chopping up an M1 Garand bored out to .410, it obviously only functioned as a straight pull - a single shot one at that as it wouldn't feed .410 cartridges, he did so with a very heavy heart. He was given it many years ago but I think it was because it could be argued that once Section 5 always Section 5.
Gunman
There was a point with constantly changing rules that , all guns converted to a lower class ei. section 1 to section 2 , would revert to their former classification . There was some lee way in this as a Lee Enfield converted to 410 would be OK but there had been many that had just had the rifling bored out ,making them smooth bores and thus shotguns would not as it would still chamber a .303" round . There were military rifles of all makes and models either converted to .410" or just smooth bored only proviso was that the barrels were 24" plus .
