Walker570
.....of the view into the new silage pit. You can just pick out the hen pheasant in one, a pair of mallard, in the other and at least 20 woodpigeons on the other. Booked in 3 more for the count, magpies and a jackdaw. This blind is proving useful and all the far soil spoil heap is poddled with fox prints, so left the carcases and a woodie as bait. Give it a day or two and then sit there for an hour or two after dark.
oowee
Great little project there. I might give it a try myself although I doubt i will get beyond stringing up a net.
Walker570
Was a time 25-30yrs ago when I was out four nights a week on the quad, rolling foxes and crawling around woods chasing deer, but now I ambush them instead in comfort Around farmyards a blind is so useful, if you have the patience. No kidding, 12 months ago this farm was awash with magpies, 100--150 would take off from the slurry pits in one go. I built a blind and started shooting and now it is rare to see more than a dozen if that, but the area is now buzzing with songbirds instead. Well worth the effort. JDog
Your farmer is lucky that he still has silage left.
Walker570
Plenty to go at yet. He is tearing hair out because he can't get his young heifers out on the grass though. This next week may be the turning point. They have five pits and looking to build another. Milkers are in 24/7 ... in calf and young beast out on grass as soon as possible. One of the few dairy farms not to have brought in any outside stock since 1939 ..other than the AI lady.
