cjm
I have an old hammer gun carrying the name of P Sheppard made in London, has anyone heard of this make or have any information on it. I believe it was made around 1885. Any information would be appreciated. ( a very nice old gun with damascus barrels and in very good condition)

Graham M
The OP spelt it Sheppard nor Shepherd. No wonder I couldn't find anything. On the other hand if it IS Sheppard then it's probably a provincial ironmonger's name on the barrels.

Difficult to read as the letters are very faint
Graham M
A photo of the proof marks would give a clue as to whether it was proofed in London or Birmingham.
cjm
Proofed in Birmingham
Graham M
Probably a Birmingham gun then; made in the trade and sold by a local ironmonger who had his own name put on the rib/barrels.

There is a Benjamin Sheppard registered as a Gunmaker at 14 1\2 Bath Street Birmingham 1860-74 OB
