I have an old hammer gun carrying the name of P Sheppard made in London, has anyone heard of this make or have any information on it. I believe it was made around 1885.

Any information would be appreciated. ( a very nice old gun with damascus barrels and in very good condition)

Apart from the name is there an address ? Why do you say made in London ?

Its stamped on the barrels

The OP spelt it Sheppard nor Shepherd. No wonder I couldn't find anything.

On the other hand if it IS Sheppard then it's probably a provincial ironmonger's name on the barrels.

Difficult to read as the letters are very faint

Could it therefore be `B.Sheppard` ? There is a Benjamin Sheppard registered as a Gunmaker at 14 1\2 Bath Street Birmingham 1860-74
