BSA Martinis - here today, gone tomorrow

Did anyone else puzzle over the sudden arrival of, apparently, seven BSA Martini Internationals (unless there were some repeat entries) in the Trade Sales section and the equally sudden disappearance/sale of five of them? These excellent rifles do sell still but not usually that quickly. Anyway, someone may like to know that of the survivors one is definitely a Mark 5 (left handed) and the other probably a Mark 4 (it lacks the dovetails of the Mark 5). Both will have lovely triggers, better than the Mark 1, 2, and 3 Internationals, but the Mark 4 has a lighter barrel than the Mark 5. Both have the correct  sights except that the Mark 5 seems to have  a Freeland foresight.

Have got a tech issue with Gunwatch.

When I click an attached photo or the full article, a warning page appears with a red triangle and ' your connection is not private' message ?????

I had a Mk 5 cut down to about 14", PH silencer fitted and scoped.

Heavy but a super accurate bunny bashing ' car gun '.

Was offered silly money for it so let it go.

Cost me a tenner as it just wasn't moving..

IIRC the Mk 5 had a floating barrel

We (the club) sold 3 BSA's some years ago for something like a tenner each as no-one wanted them. Better barrels than Anschutz, but an old and outdated design. Shot with a Mk2 for years when I first started, but then bought my first Anschutz. The balance was completely different.

I'd love another BSA but I'm only allowed 12 guns before I have to install a monitored alarm, so I have to be selective about what I want.

I've always been tempted by a BSA modified like that. What sort of groups could it achieve?

50y. Eley subs. 1/4 moa off bags.

Saw one shortened and scoped at the .22 Bench Rest Stall at a gun show, which gave me the idea. Can't remember exactly the barrel length but lathed the rear chamfer off a PH silencer and when fitted it was same diameter as barrel so looked intregal.

My mate did the same to a Mk3 but had issues with the ejected case hitting the scope and dropping back on the ramp. He remedied this but can't remember how. Mk5 had no ejection issues.

Also did the the same with BSA Century and the reduction in barrel length / weight, made it very portable for stalking rabbits.

A BSA magazine would fit straight into the slot after the single shot ramp was pushed out but getting a good

mag, which were poorly made was difficult.
