Aluminium Gates.

Has anyone had experience of the large, wood effect aluminium gates  ?   They are quite popular in France, but there seems to a very limited market over here. They are expensive, compared to wood, but are low maintenance and have a 10 year warranty. Any observations would be welcome.

Hi obviously I would NEVER advocate it for many many reasons but....a slightly frayed 3 phase cable poorly protected by a really big fuse/nail that nobody knew was there ( must be a relic from the previous owners ) and running frighteningly close to a metal structure ( possibly almost touching in places) can sometimes put people off such activities.........or so I am lead to believe BUT I know little,of such things

You just have to be careful if the ally meets steel.Galvanic corrosion could occur particularly if you are on the coast.

Thanks Guy's.  They are for my eldest daughter actually, their wood gates have rotted and require replacement. As they both have full time,  long hour careers,  the lack of maintenance seemed appealing.
