cardigun
Hi, We have an oldish 3010, and it is very noisy ! It has a 3 cylinder diesel engine, and most of the noise comes from the engine area. Are there any "noise absorbing " materials that we can stick round the engine area ?
SpringDon
Loads. Here’s one https://www.sounddeadeninguk.co.uk/diesel-engine-soundproofing-sheet-high-performance-thermal-insulation?gclid=Cj0KCQiAn4PkBRCDARIsAGHmH3dzW3Z9twGfvCVBNTrr14xZ-ygV0tE5X366_n2_9FEpWRU6u2IsXKUaAihmEALw_wcB if you’re bored try this in google acoustic hood material engine But you might want to look at the engine as it should be reasonably quiet. Is the injection timing and tappets adjusted correctly.
ditchman
also the other thing to be aware of is interupting the air flow around the enjine....see what clearence you have around the engine before decieding on the thickness........also there are different enjine and gearbox mountings you may want to think about....not expensive but worth it
cardigun
Thanks for the replies. There is already a layer of rubber type foam stuck to the bulkheads, and the underside of the body. Perhaps the engine timings are worth a look.

cardigun
Just resurrecting this query. Your helpful suggestions about " other forms of sound insulation " worked a treat. I bought a sheet of 1" thick "Class O " foam, which is self adhesive, and put it on top of the rubber type foam in all the areas, and it is now the most silent diesel Mule I have heard. Thanks everyone.
