old'un
Are the worms in the breast flesh or on the outside of the birds skin?

On the outside but seem to be like stuck in the skin like a leach, almost translucent red and thin body.

zipdog
Could be maggots. I was surprised the other day. I shot a few pigeons a week last Saturday. Put them under a tree to reuse on my magnet etc on Monday as it was bank holiday. I was shocked to return to find them all very decomposed with maggots crawling all over them. That was within 48 hours. Edited September 2, 2019 by zipdog
dead eye alan
No not maggots the last 11 birds I shot I plucked very carefully all but 2 had at least 1 worm attached some had 5 or 6 all of them were dead. I'm on holiday at the moment but will do further investigations on my return and photos.
