Me and a friend are out tommorow roughshooting in the morning with woodcock being the main quarry. had it planned for a while now due to busy schedules and this being the only suitable day for both of us, only trouble is it’s give peeing down rain all day! We’re both committed to try and make a day of it and just wondering if anyone has any experience of good days rough shooting in the wet or should we just accept that it’s going to end up being a big walk in the rain with guns 😂😂

Go for it. . . don't waste the chance

1. Your going to get wet; just minimise the best you can

2. Good supply of your favourite tipple for the heavy showers

3. Walk in a direction so heavy rain is out of your face

4. Keep cartridges as dry as poss ( keep them in the house tonight to get off to a good start )

5. Have a laugh with your mate

6. Mark shot birds well

7. Hot shower when you get home

8. Let us all know how you got on!!

I have had some excellent days in the wet, things sit tighter and flush later, if they were in the woods, spinneys and hedges in the first place, they will still be there, and the dogs will find em!.............they got nowhere else to go!...have a good day and post a report!

Good luck and let us know how it goes!

Not a big issue for roughshooting but not great for me trying to get birds up to a good height over standing guns today!

Yep rain uncomfortable, but ok for rough/walked up, more uncomfortable, and not so good for driven! But good luck and have a good day anyway!

Well we ended up getting stuck in bogs more than shooting got soaked through but had a very funny and  enjoyable time only ended up with a 3 quarter grown rabbit in the bag as everything else either evaded us or flushed out of range, the woodcock were tucked up tight in the thickest of cover so we left it until later in the season when it has died down a bit more. Rabbit recipes anyone?
