Dog Trailer Renovation

Finally got around to buying a Dog trailer, however it needed a bit of work. The guy I bought it off must have been keeping chickens in it or something I tried to wash it out with Jeyes fluid but the Guano was so thick on the floor of the trailer it acted like a rubber seal and it just filled up. After that I decided I'ld just start from scratch and I've taken a few pictures of the restoration process

Here's the update on my trailer renovation......got new plastic mudguards for it today and had to replace the old tyres with some new(used) tyres as the old ones were rotten.

The next picture is of the aluminium sheeting which needs to be fixed onto the inside to stop the dogs chewing out through the inside of the trailer while I've stopped at the pub for a pint

So that's the story the story for the moment, stay tuned for more updates!

We'll was supposed to go on a stag to Warsaw this weekend, but some clown drove into the back of my car last weekend, no damage done to the car but my back locked up on Wednesday so I couldn't go anywhere. So I got some more work done on the trailer. This time sorted out the electrics

These are the old lights a pile of junk!

Got some new lights and done the wiring myself and lo and behold they worked!

Not to take anything away from you deeks but why don't you keep them in your motor?

LB

The van I only had on loan, just after buying a new motor so I don't want them to destroy it like the last one, trailer is a lot more practical for me.

Fair enough.

I can see you starting a little sideline business here if you ain't carefull ;)

Nice looking rear!....... plenty of reflectors so that it will be easily seen when parked at the side of the road.

Well LB I'll probably be looking for another cheap trailer somewhere all you need is a good frame the rest isn't that hard, as you say it could turn into a nice little sideliner nice way of making a few bob.

To answer malkiserows' question about the trailer bouncing the dogs around well your right they do, the springs on this trailer are quite hard when I took it for its first spin it was like towing a football behind the car it bounced all over the road, thought it was going to land on top of the boot at one stage. However I left some of the air out of the tyres deflated from 30psi to 15psi and its smooth out now no bouncing you have to take it easy when towing a trailer anyway especially with dogs. Took the dogs out and they seem happy out with it not a bit afraid of getting into it or anything.

Just have to practice reversing with it now!

Not a critisism but personally I would put carpet/underlay on top as dogs will slide on lino and could injure themselves, I know from past experience when my dog pulled a leg muscle due to me not putting down a non slip cover in the dog box  It also makes the trip home, after they have worked their hearts out for you, that wee bit more comfortable.
