reggiegun
Hi All, I have a Mk 1 Rapid 7, my firearms cert is due for renewal and i am thinking of applying for a slot for an Fac air rifle. What could I have the rapid upgraded too, who can do the work and how do I go about putting it on my ticket as I already own it? Also what .22 pellets do you recommend to use. Looking at shooting rabbits at around 50 yards on a flat golf course, can't use my rim fire because of richochets Regards, Reggiegun

PM Sam@CS on here for one or even give Ben Taylor a ring, Rapids can be upgraded to around 50ft/lbs maybe even above but you will seriously sacrifice shot count, IIRC Sam can tune them to achieve something like 70 shots per charge @ 30ft/lbs consistently. As for writing it on your ticket the Sam can do this after he has converted it As for pellets, there are quite a few the rapid likes at FAC level the AA Field and JSB Exacts being a few, some even like BisMags
Axe
Its worth remembering that once you have the gun converted to FAC, it will always remain FAC even if you put it back to 12ft/lb. The other issue also worth noting is that you will also devalue the rifle significantly.

Looking at shooting rabbits at around 50 yards on a flat golf course, can't use my rim fire because of richochets Regards, Reggiegun right a few facts to help you,as the owner and USER of two fac rapids one @30ftlbs and one@ 40ftlbs both using aa fields!! let me say fac air is a GREAT tool, accurate, quiet, and effective for rabbits ,I have a couple of golf courses (3) that I can only use air and my guns, have accounted for more bunnies than my rimmie or hmr put together. things to consider before you go ahead with a conversion are A) initial cost of your existing gun is it new or in as new condition, is it "untampered" if so sell it? get some good cash then shop around for an existing fac gun they are available and at a fraction of the cost of a 12lber, ! recently saw a 40lb rapid mk1 upgrade done by sam @ cs complete with awt silencer, etc that was in MINT condition go for £350 bargain and plenty more are about. if you do upgrade and want to go back to standard ie have it de fac'd it can be done but sometimes difficult? it just depends on you force some will some wont but facts are they SHOULD. C) shot count you rightly want in my opinion the right tool for the job ie an fac rapid you should be getting at least 70 shots @ 30lbs and 50 @ 40lbs if the gun wont do that look for another, any of sams upgrades or ben taylors should do that, more than enough for a bunny session,l oh and thats with a 400cc bottle and a reasonable length of barrel say 19" not a broomstick 24" with a 500cc shuutle fuel tank ( awkward and ungainly) D) 50 yards is well within range of an fac air my guns are zeroed @ 45 yards so basically anything from 15 to 65 is a no brainer out side that needs a little thought, and I have shot to eighty regularly ( I wont go past this and wont claim 100 yarders like some who could not judge the length of a 12" rule? so its up do you do you want one , do you need one ? if so go for it but hopefully think of it as an addition and perhaps get a rimmie or hmr as well or later? hope this helps cheers KW
